I think that the same standards should apply toward rap artist like Ice Cube.Cause he had the freedom of speeh to make a racist song about white women. That same freedom of speech should also apply toward those men in our society too.

But in either case I don't think no group rather white or black should be offended, cause we are all unique in our own ways. Some people like Beyonce,Vanessa Williams and Mariah are not nappy haired, even in that case the women on the basket ball team are not nappy haired either.Their unique in their own way just like every other race of women in reference to some rap songs that belittled white women in the past about having stringy hair , I did not get offended in the least by those racist deragtory degrading words, cause I am at peace with my self, I don't belittle other people, I already feel whole in heart.

Double standard. Imus insults all kinds of people, even Jews. But the day comes along when he says something about blacks. OH NO!!!! He gets fired.

So much for free speech, eh? You can insult Christians and whites and Jews all you want. But you dare not say a word against blacks or Muslims. Cause somehow they're more special....

I'm waiting for the apologies to come from Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton for the remarks they made about the Duke athletes that are now shown to be innocent after charges of rape.

The case is all fluff. "Freedom Of Speech" is WHY CBS hired Imus: the man is an equal-opportunity abuser. No one is immune for his insults. Comedian Don Rickles made a career out of such diatribes! CBS should be standing by their guy! They hired him because of his mouth!

Imus' remarks were despicable, but since when isn't an apology enough?

A few years ago, a local talk show host got into a similar problem after a remark about our mayor. The radio station fired the host, and he disappeared for 18 months.

He's now back on the air, and more popular than ever.
The mayor, is no longer the mayor.

What's next? The THOUGHT POLICE?

I agree with you. People need to toughen up and stop being such babies. Racism goes both ways; always has and always will.

As for Imus, he's been saying crap like that for over 40 years. He goes after all races. I'm not saying it's right, but give me a break. We are sick of these racist whiners who blame everyone but themselves for their problems.

Sharpton and Jesse are two of the biggest hate-mongering racists out there. BTW...them innocent Duke Lacrosse boys get their apology yet?

Are you insane? The whole world knows what group of people pull out the victim card every time they don't get what they want or get their feelings hurt. It's just a big joke to all of US PEOPLE who can deal with life and don't blame everyone else for our problems. Grow up and join reality....you are confused.

I think this country is way too willing to give up their rights when its convenient for them. Blacks want to ban whites from talking about them, but what they don't realize is they are giving the green light to censorship. Think about it, MLK and Malcolm X would be turning in their graves if they knew blacks were promoting something like this, because whites used the same exact excuses against them. Now Imus is no MLK, Imus is a racist shock jock, but if you allow a few upset people to get rid of somebody they don't like, you get rid of the rights of all people in the minority to speak their mind, not just racist shock jocks.

If comedy central can have shows like South Park, I think Imus should too. Yea, you can argue that South Park is supposed to be comical but even the first time I saw it, I found it revolting. Without knowing the context that Imus's words were spoken compared to his usual comments, you can't call him a racist.

All Shock Jocks ought to be on a ten second delay. Everyone is stupid and even bigoted sometime or even several times in their life. What I'm wondering is why Limbaugh isn't long gone.

I think its because he's white. If he was a black man, I seriously doubt it'd be this much of an uproar. I think if your going to have standards for one race it should be used for all races. I think its crap that people talking about glocks and rape got into mainstream music, and I can't believe my peers listen to it.

You know if it had ben a black radio personality who said something about white players, nothing would have been done or said.

Why is noone going after Jesse Jackson for referring to jews as "hymies" and calling New York "Hymietown" back in the 80's?

The sad part is, the time is coming when people will get fired for stating their honest opinions about homosexuals too, because anymore, homosexuality is turning into a "race issue" too.

Please don't talk about double standards. A white woman runs over two black children, kills them and flees the scene. Her defense, the classic..."I was scared" defense. She walks out of the courtroom with 2 years probation. A black man hits a white lady, stops to help, does not flee the scene and is given 15 years in prison. Now THAT is a double standard. So you people need to get off of your high horses and quit playing that role you love to play, THE VICTIM. You wreak so much havoc in this world, and when there is an outcome that YOU PEOPLE do not like, you want to cry and pout. Imus got what he deserved. We've been dealing with double standards, mind you, in much more serious situations for YEARS. Get over yourselves.

What exactly have I denied? Reading comprehension is very important, practice it. I think you need to pick up a paper and understand issues before you make ridiculous comments. For example:
1. Are you so ignorant that you don't see the difference between the Imus situation and Duke Lacrosse players?? I mean really. The Duke Lacrosse players were ACCUSED of rape. Granted they have been exonerated, but there was an accusation (one that a white D.A. felt charges should be brought for, mind you). Imus made a comment about women who did nothing but win basketball games.
2. Know the difference between racism and the fight for equality. I am not the biggest Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton fans, however, they are not racists. They point out injustice and simply want equality between races. I've never heard them declare that Blacks are better than whites (by the way, that is the definition of racism - the belief that one race is superior to another. Pick up a dictionary.) So we all know who has the racism market cornered.
