I'm starting to look into colleges and I want to go to a college that is around Chicago, IL. I want to be a high school history teacher. Anyone have any suggestions of good schools around Chicago or northern/central Illinois?

For education, Illinois State U and Northeastern IL U tend to have well known programs.
Other schools which offer secondary education are UIC and NIU.

Right off the bat I think of University of Chicago, but I'm sure there are others. At the link below you can search for colleges based on where they are and what you want to study.

The best schools in the Chicago area are University of Chicago and Northwestern. If you can't get into one of them, I'd suggest going outside of Chicago -- and go to UI's main campus.
