It's all BS, this is a free country if we don't agree with someone change the station or don't buy the sponsors products. But when they hired him for the job they knew what they were getting and then they fire him for doing what he was hired to do, stir people up. It shouldn't matter what people say, we learn that as kids, sticks and stones etc. We are creating a society that is going to tell you what to say and when you can say it. Do we really want to give up our freedoms that easily? That's what's going on, he's just the first, if we let the media dictate who gets fired we're in trouble. The media are the ones that should be fired, look at how many people now know what was said, if they would have not blasted it all over the TV screens no one but a few would have ever known, the studio would have slapped his hands maybe fined him and moved on. No one wins this way.

I dont even like Imus. Never even listened to his show or watched it....

but this whole thing is ridicuous.

Can the media move on already or are they really THIS bored that that make such a big deal out of this? I guess it finally gives Anna Nichole some time to RIP.

I love the whole double standard of the whole deal, if Imus was black it never would have been a issue...

Now my next question is, who do I call next time I hear a black man call a white man a "cracker" or a "redneck"?

Its a shame Al Sharpton had to take it this far because he's the one that keeps the hate fires burning.

I wrote a two page essay on this topic. this country is a democracy.... if freedom of speech is not acceptable, then the country should start leaning towards communism, because they are contradicting themselves. Don't get me wrong, I do not at all agree with imus's comments.. but those women are people that LITTLE GIRLS look up to.. shouldnt they be in trouble for being so shallow as to let some man's comments bother them, especially to this extreme? I don't think he should have been fired for his comments, this is the USA... I think that the only thing he did wrong was probably violate the FCC..

just my opinion!

Well seeing he had a history of this, maybe it would be the last straw. I mean wouldnt u get tired of someone picking on u and making fun of u for 40 years? Im not saying he picked on a particular group, he picked on everyone to make fun of. I think the decision was a bit hasty, but next they should boycott 50 cent, 3 six mafia, lil jon, richboy, lil wayne, and all those who put the word ho in their song because it is degrading.

we all have inappropriate thoughts, unfortunately Imus' mouth is moving while he is having those thoughts. it's stupid political correctness. don't listen if you don't like it/ you know why we don't have the same standards for rappers and hiphop artists? because we think that they are degenerate and representative of their race(at least in their age group anyway),we don't expect any better from them.

No, they probably had sponsors that pulled their ads out. Money gone right there. Not to mention bad publicity. I think he was wrong on what he said. He shouldn't be reprimanded as bad as he was. What happened to freedom of speech? I think they're setting an example of him like they did Martha Stewart in sending her to prison.

It shows a lot of people don't understand the First Amendment to the Constitution.

I guess when people say "I don't agree with what you say but I'll defend your right to say it" doesn't mean much anymore.

And it shows that heads of television and radio shows wimp out under pressure.
