BECAUSE HE'S TOO DAMN STUPID

He is a reverend who comes out of the old Civil Rights and protest movements.

Now, I love Rev. Sharpton. He is very nice and so is his wife and unlike Jesse has lived a very modest and pious life. He has made many mistakes but he means well.

But what you are asking doesn't make sense. He is not a medical professional or a environmentalist (although he cares about both).

And why don't you ask Jesse Helms or Bill O'Reilly to do something else too?

He really has done things for people and so has Rev. Jackson. I have spent about 3 years worth of time looking at specific examples.

And they were right to take the company and man to task over his racist, sexist term. If he didn't who would have, you? You probably thought it was funny and wouldn't even have cared about those girls' feelings.

While curing cancer and pollution would help black people, we need specific people to tend to "black issues". There are thousands of people devoted to cancer and pollution.

Only a dedicated few to make sure that black people aren't terrorized by bad policemen, aren't insulted for just living and doing their jobs, and yes, making sure someone pays for insulting mostly black women (who are ignored and hated by everyone) just like they would if they insulted any other group of women.

You writing crap (or me for that matter) on Yahoo! Answers isn't the most productive thing either. Sweep around your front door...

Publicity seems to be the mans "gold fever". Cures for cancer and pollution don't come quick enough, and it really isn't his field. I wish he would find a true enemy of his cause. It would make his efforts seem less frivolous and may bring back some of the character he has lost. What Imus said was dumb and needless to say a mistake....unless....you are a shock jock in radio and plan to go out with a bang. I don't really like shock jocks either. They tend to share the same traits as people like Sharpton. What I truly hate is that all this negative publicity has completely diverted that attention from the death in the middle east.

I think it is because he is AL and not any other person. All the world is a stage and all persons actors who come and play different roles. My dear colleagues, this country has come a long way in reconciling people of all kinds. It is very important for us to tolerate others. I believe that it is our intolerance for others that results in all the regretable problems of sexism and racism. Our society needs the Al Sharptons just as much as it needs the Imuses and the Al Gores. That is the beauty of the world. The conglomeration of all of our efforts is what has made, and will continue to make the world a better place to live. May we all obtain the spirit of accomodating each other be us white, black, men, women, football players, basketball players etc.

Thank god. I have been so lonely here. Al Sharpton is a cancer. Every time some washed out white guy crosses some make believe line they go to Al to appoligise. He`s more of a racist than them! We have to keep this maggot out of the news, thats what he survives on.

He`s a "reverand", right. And i`m the next pope. He dropped out of ministry school to join a music school. The only rythem he has is the sound of his comb slicking back his hair. So many people have stood up and denounced dislike for this worm, maybe it will help. Only time will tell.

Who? Sorry. Don't get out often. Got the gist looking at the other answers. Personally would not bother myself with this
but wanted two points. Seems a waste to utilize old school methods to speed the process. Al is mortal, right? Answers
to a higher authority in his business, right? Well. There you are. And he, holding his own privy. Don't get splashed with the same. That reek may linger longer than this life.

He leaves that to other people....Like Jesse Jackson he has found his forum, his audience and his stride. It works for him and he's sticking to it as it best promotes Al Sharpton more than any search for a cure could. Religion and politics...are never ending stories so you'll alway hear their voices and see their faces on every issue where they can insert themselves.

Damon S was apt when he said it is the new.. "Gold Fever."

I am African "American", and I dont agree with a lot of things Al Sharpton does; however, we as "Americans" cannot belittle him or hold and grudge against him for making sure Americans carry out what was written in the constitution and the history of this country. "Justice for all!" I dont believe that its "Just" to belittle someone for the way they look or because their features are not the same as the ones you look at in the mirror. America used to be called the "Melting Pot" because people all over came to make this country what it is today. Diversity built this country; but many "Americans" still reject it. It shouldn't matter what color, what hair texture, or facial features those Rutger girls had! The only things that should have matter was how the game was played! Don Imus was wrong for what he did! Anyone who degrades women or men, people of different races, etc. are wrong for their actions! Do I believe that he should loose his show? NO! But he should be held responsible for his actions as an individual. How juvenile is that to suggest, " Just because other people are doing it, its okay for me to do it." AS PEOPLE, we should hold ourselves to higher standards!

Just for the record, I'd rather people who make racial slurs, degrades women or anyone for that matter, keep their half
a** appologies. If you dont mean, dont say it! You cant call me a ni**er and then say " I dont know what came over me."

Keep it! Save it! Sell it to someone else!

Al Sharpton is just another sleezeball without a cause. He thrives on people saying the wrong things so he can come out and show his face on tv. He probably does not have the knowledge to do anything productive that's why he is a reverend.

That would require intelligence and an education. And the work is not glamorous until a major breakthrough is made. Sharpton cannot survive without being on tv all the time

Working on things like that are not going to get them headlines. Some people are just great at diverting our attention from the bigger problems with the world; war, hunger, AIDS, Sudan by making so much out of the problems that only affect the headlines of Enquirer. If tey can keep us in an uproar then it's harder for us to sit and focus on the bigger picture.
