You can die from drinking too much water as well you know. So should it be illegal too? The answer is no, because those who are smart enough to take it in moderation when appropriate deserve the benefits to be gained.

The other illegal drugs that you are referring to have negative side effects outweigh the possible benefits of using them.

I am aware that overdosing on an asperin will kill you, but overdosing on most meds will get you one way are another, and there are a lot of them sinus meds, cough meds, but they make them legal and accessible. I do not know why they do that. I had a friend over dose on IB profin and when her mother called poisen control they said bring her in imidiately because her kidneys could shut down.

So, if you take one sip of antifreeze, paint thinner or cianide it would also be your last headache. It's several things including addictive nature of the drug, purpose, how it's used, where it comes from, the strength, pre-concevied notions, safety, effectiveness and anything else the FDA wants to take in to consideration.

You could hurt yourself with vitamins too, but they are legal. Come to think of it, you can also buy a pocket knife and you might hurt yourself with that, that's legal. Really though, I think it has more to do with whether or not it has real medicinal value, and whether or not it is addictive. Prescription drugs are legal too you know.

It'd take more like sixty of 'em to be profoundly toxic. But what's this about other drugs not being legal? Oh - guess you're too young to drink, huh? Don't sweat it; ya ain't missing all that much!

Not true.....I've taken more, only had sick stomach and ringing ears =) Why are cigarettes legal when they are the leading cause of preventable death? Why is alcohol legal when people drink too much and drive and kill people?? Why is Advil legal when it can damage your liver? We could go on and on with this but let's not ;o)

Asprin isn't mind altering. Nicotine is a drug, also...not mind altering. Alcohol...sure, it IS mind altering but they tried prohibition. That didn't go over well. Problem being...if it were illegal to begin with, it would have been easier to stop. It's too hard to give someone a priviledge and then remove it. It's like trying to UN-teach someone how to read.

I dont think its the deadliness of it because...anything in excess can lead to death. The problem is drug-abuse where people are using the drugs for recreational purposes rather than painkilling.
