I think its one of the most abused welfare systems in our country. It encurages people to NOT go get a job because they can mooch off of everyone else. Then, on top of that already pathetic story, the want everyone to pity their horrible life. Why is it that everyone thinks freedom is free and that happiness, social, and economic dependence is free also. Its not and I really wanna kick those people in the *** and tell them to get a job and quit making their lives and their childrens' lives hell.

There are always people who will lie and try to beat the system. What are you gonna do? In CA, families can get aid for a child for two years, period. They can have more babies, but no more aid. They have to look for work too. General relief has a work for aid program too. and as for getting medical, if you're on Medical, you invariably get foreign doctors and cut cost treatment. But at least they have some kind of coverage. What about the 25 or 30 million Americans who can't afford medical insurance? I've been trying to get my SSI for 4 years and have been continuously denied. I'm disabled and worked for 35 years. Why doesn't anybody care about that? It's my money, right? Which is worse? A country that helps the seemingly undeserving, or one that refuses to help the ones that earned it? I can't work and I have medical proof, but I'm on the dole. After working for 35 years I have to live off of 272.00$ a month. Is that right?

yeah, but what U gonna do?I live in a state that has a railroad line running north to Chicago....every 1st of the month we have about 50-60 people who load up,ride the train up there and collect food stamps and a check at the sons/daughters/relatives house where they say they live then come back home and get the same thing here.....the welfare rolls are super confidential and cannot be compared to any other states rolls...they double dip every month for the price of a train ticket

Shameful and in the USA of all places, all the great morals of our dear government, all that wasted tax money, hell we could have let them starve, work for cash shame on them for not paying taxes to collect them at the end of the year. Kid , poor kids growing up not knowing what its like living with a family that pays taxes. I say why not raise minimum wage to above the poverty level for a family of 4 and settle the whole thing, universal health care.

Don't be so quick to lump everyone on public assistance into the same category. Yes, some are frauds, but there are some people on food stamps, etc. who really are trying to better themselves and do not intend to be on them forever. Some people really do just need some temporary help. Never say never....you may need it too some day.

Yes I am! I am a handicap person, I can't get food stamps or any medical help. I can't get disability because deafness does not qualify, and no one wants to hire a deaf person.
My sister-in-law is over weight, fat, lazy, a pill junkie, a computer junkie, who WON"T work and she gets all kinds of benefits, and she has the nerve to tell me I should be getting disability. Lets see, she gets welfare, food stamps, free food, free clothing, and medical benefits. Her husband gets his disability from the military (nothing is really wrong with him except he just is too good to work) and her daughter gets a inheritance check every month.
Yeah I'm sick of it.

Your priorities are messed up to worry about someone misusing food stamps while corporations get billions in tax money and get paid by the government to send American jobs offshore. The corporations love it when the lower classes fight among themselves and leave them free to loot the treasury with the willing help of their politician puppets.

I'm sick of the ones who use thier kids to hide behind in order to get help, then let their kids run wild in the streets.

Why doesn't the government just print extra money to fund those programs? Instead of dipping their hands into everyones pockets...
