It's perfectly OK to make fun of Mormons, talk about them having more than one wife (which they don't) and call them dumb blondes, or whatever. Sharpton and Jesse would just continue flipping through the channels if someone made a disparaging remark about BYU.

Don Imus has been dismissed because people want justice, however it is a different standard. Look at Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Rosie O'Donnell, Geraldo; they have all been offensive and possibly they should be removed as well.

I state my opinion; maybe I should be removed. It is true that Don Imus said something wrong, however how many times did the news cast repeat it causing even more damage?

I have not been a fan of Imus; however I do value my freedom.
He apologized, that is what was needed. What use will it be for him to be nailed to a cross ??

On the other hand, no charges were pressed against the person who said she was raped by Duke La Crosse Players, why not ? If someone causes harm like she did, charges and penalties should be assessed. By her doing this, takes away from those that have been truly raped, and takes away the credibility of future victims (?)

I believe the very real distinction here is the difference between spewing out generic racial trash talk and on the other hand making it personal by directing it at specific individuals.
Both Imus and your imaginary black radio host should be fired.
Freedom of speech, as with all freedoms, demands a little responsibility and common sense, and should not include the right to insult specific individuals with unfounded racial slurs.

Little - if any - outrage. Let's face it: shysters like Sharpton rattle their sabers whenever an opportunity presents itself wherein blacks can further divide the nation. This is not about racial equality; it's about power, status and money.
Do you think Sharpton doesn't get some kind of lavish compensation for all his racial uprisings?
Don't get me wrong: Imus was wrong in what he said, but that doesn't make it right for the black community to get so uptight and insensitive when black rappers boorishly sing about "ganstas", raping white women, wholesale killings and "n-gg--s". We all have to live in this society, and we ought to learn how to live in harmony with one another, with no one group making demands on another group.
Personally, I find Howard Stern's multi-million-dollar salary offensive when he earns it by demeaning women and talking nothing more than just plain filth over the airwaves. I believe Rush Limbaugh's garbage-mouth ranting and raving is paramount to that of the Hitler propagandists who persuaded millions of Germans that Jews and gypsies were not part of the 'perfect' human race.
It's time to bring back respectability, integrity, compassion, good humor, and common decency to American society, instead of allowing the nation to be run over by potty-mouth racist, sexist, politically-prejudiced radio content that certainly has a negative influence on millions of our most impressionable citizens - mainly, those who aren't able to think for themselves. -RKO- 04/12/07
