What is it when a leader decides to tell a group of people something, whether its true or not, and the people believe it just because they look up to the leader.

The word could be 'indoctrination' or 'propaganda'. The people who accept someones words without critically examining them, could be said to be 'blind followers' or 'indoctrinated' or 'brainwashed', depending on the context.
