I think stupid people will always look for a reason to blame someone for the reason they are in their position.
I do not think Imus should be fired, to me its worse than what he said, he is being fired for speeking, a right we all have, the right to freedom of speech.
I do not see anything happening to the girl who falsely accused the Duke Lacross boys, she is going to walk, and to me that is way wrong, she should be put in jail, and forced to pay legal fees for all 3 boys she falsely accused.
It is an outrage that people are so offended by comments that the black community say all the time about each other, usually way worse.
If you have self respect, it does not matter who says the comment you should not like it..
Like saying a fat guy feels its ok for another fat person to come up to him and say.. what up my fat boy, but if a skinny guy says.. hey what up fat boy.. that is offensive.. whats the damn difference.
Shut up about being offended.. get over it.. we all do things that might offend others from time to time, doesnt mean we do on purpose, or are a bad person.
to the folks who say you do not understand if your black or jewish.. thats bullsht, i am a fat guy, and people have made the fat **** comment to me all my life, I laugh at them for being idiots, and move on.. you see fat jokes, all the time, fat parodys, bla bla.. who cares.. laugh and live life.
Otherwise, STFU

Yes, you're right. This is not something new for don imus, he has been doing for years. Nobody even knew who he was before now. He's been around forever and has always made comments like this that's what he is known for. The thing is has MSNBC and all other advertisers not pulled their name then they would look bad.
Let's get real nobody cares if he called them nappy..... these companies don't care but they do care about $$$$$.
If that's the case than every rap song, needs to be pulled off the air. yes i am white and offened by what some rappers have to say but who cares i'm just poor white trash.
You're right everybody does need to get over it but they won't; i'm sorry but it's takes just little bit more to hurt my feelings. I have other things to worry about other than someone being called a nappy .....

Don Imus has (had) a national audience for his radio/TV show. He is (was) a very clever guy, very entertaining, and as such, he was able to sell advertising for his employer.
Then he made a very insensitive remark about some folks that did not deserve it. There is nothing funny about calling a lady's basketball team a bunch of "nappy ho's".
Sponsors withdrew their support from his shows.
So, yes, he needed to lose his job.
the purpose of a show such as his is to sell advertising. When his presence on the show makes it impossible to sell advertising, then Imus' employers must fire him.
really simple, actually
I like him too. And I'd have fired him in a second.

Well said! I'm happy that you know Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are racists. While Al Sharpton stirs up controversy, Imus was working today on his radio show to raise money for kids with cancer. What has Al Sharpton ever done for anyone?

The difference between what Imus said and what Chris Rock says is that Rock is a COMEDIAN....he's making people laugh. I don't think many people laughed at what Imus said. Stupid people breed hate and racist and sexist people (men, women, black, white, red or yellow) are stupid.

Absolutely...
Why is this a racial thing? Aren't there just as many black players on Tennessee's team? He called them "pretty." If anything, his remarks were sexist not racist. There is some belief that women athletes should be "pretty." I do not think his comments had anything to do with race. If it were a team of white females, he would have called them trailerpark trash ho's. I can see how women would be offended, but racial...get off the soapbox of trying to find problems with everthing!!!

I think it all is a damn shame!!! Firing him was not called for!! what about all the rap singers that says the same thing? Should their careers be stopped? As for as Sharpton & Jackson they are probably gloating over it all. Well, what goes around comes around!!! SO much for the freedom of speech in the USA.!!!! Is this country turning to communist?

No, not really, because you would have to be a minority to understand the implications of his remarks. Don Imus should have known better, for all the reasons you stated above, and that's all I have to say about the matter.

Yes, I do not suppose it used to be as a lot racist as simply beside the point. If he were speakme to me or of me I customarily might were annoyed although. But I imply he's identified for being a "surprise jock" He used to be most definitely going to mention anything to offend a few one. If you recognize anyone is offensive, however you pay attention to them besides, are you able to relatively get mad.

The way I see it and heard it, he dragged The Rutgers team through the mud.
I don't have respect for a person who makes fun of another person's nationality,
culture, or anything else that is offensive. I don't apologize for that.
