ok so... lemme work it out and ill get back to ya

lets change the equation to (1)-(2) where (1) and (2) are the different parts of your equation.

ok part (1)
(4/5)^2 = (16/25) (squared top and bottom)

(3/5) = (6/10) (5*2=10 so 3*2=6 so 3/5=6/10)

(6/10)-(1/10)=(5/10) or (1/2) (subtracfted numerators cause denomerators were changed to same and then reduced)
'
so now its

(16/25)-(1/2)

multiply 16 by 2, 25 by 2, 1 by 25 and 2 by 25 this way boith fractiopns will be over 50

(32/50)-(25/50) = (7/50) or .14

Do the old precedence drill. First the stuff in ( ).
3/5-1/10= 1/2. Then the exponent to get 16/25.
Then subtract; find a suitable common denominator for the fractions: 32/50 - 25/50 = 7/50.

Let's split this up and then put it back together when we have stuff that actually looks decent:

(4/5)^2

When it's in parentheses, you can rewrite it to look like this:

4^2 / 5^2

You use the distributive property, and that turns out to be:

16/25

Now, we take the second part:

(3/5 - 1/10)

In order to solve it we must get a greatest common denominator, which is 10 in this case, so now we have to modify the 3/5 to have a 10 on the bottom by multiplying both sides by 2:

(6/10 - 1/10)

= (5/10)

= 1/2

So now we put it back together and solve:

16/25 - 1/2

Again, we have to get a greatest common denominator, which happens to be 50 in this case, so we modify BOTH fractions:

32/50 - 25/50

= 7/50

The fraction can no longer be reduced, so this is your final solution.

7/50

You can either:
A. Type it out on your calculator, being careful with parenthesis, and use the Fraction function
OR
B. (4/5)^2 = 16/25
3/5 - 1/10 = 6/10 - 1/10 = 5/10 = 1/2
16/25 - 1/2 = 32/50 - 25/50 = 7/50

1. (4/5)(4/5)= 16/25

2. 3/5-1/10 =1/2

6/10-1/10=1/2

3. 9/25 - 1/2 = 7/50

18/50-25/50=7/50

FINAL ANSWER: 7/50

first, simplify the 3/5-1/10
=6/10-1/10=(6-1)/10=5/10=1/2
(4/5)(4/5)=multiply straight across both the top and the bottom=(4*4)/(5*5)=16/25
16/25-1/2
32/50-25/50=(32-25)/50=
7/30

(4/5)^2 - ((3/5) - (1/10))
(16/25) - ((6/10) - (1/10))
(16/25) - ((6 - 1)/10)
(16/25) - (5/10)
(16/25) - (1/2)
(32/50) - (25/50)
(32 - 25)/50
(7/50)

My answer is 7/50, or 0.14:

16/25-(0.5)=16/25-5/10=32/50-25/50=7/50=14/100

This is easiest when you convert it to decimals.

(4/5)^2-(3/5-1/0) = (0.8)^2-(0.6-0.1) = 0.64- (0.5) = 0.14

0.14 is 14/100 = 7/50

7/50 is your answer
