Since political correctness has invaded every aspect of our lives, everyone should be held to the same standard.

Al Sharpton was all over Imus for what Imus said, and rightfully so because Imus should never have said it...and not because of race, no woman should be subjected to that kind of crap...but when is Reverand Double Standard going to apologise to the Duke Lacrosse Players and the University for "His" comments and his stirring the race pot?

No...Imus should not have been fired if rappers are not going to be held to the same standard...they both have large audiences and are influential to both...

I think it changes the definition and takes away from it's importance as a hate word! I'm Cuban but I don't think anyone but racist should take offense to it being used as a term of endearment... If said in a hateful way that is demeaning it is still a powerful hate word though just not as powerful as it was back in the day!

Let me tell you all something that everyone else seems to be too afraid to say. N***a or N****r does exist in the Black community as a term of endearment. Plain and simple. It is not to be used by outside races because it is a term of racial unequalness that goes back past slavery. I don't agree with the word b****h because I don't consider myself a female dog. It too, is derogatory. If these silly women don't mind listening to these rappers degrade them, OH WELL! That is why they buy and listen to the records. However, it is a known fact that white teenagers buy the most of these CD's because they have the most money. Black people usually buy bootleg copies and the rappers don't make money from blacks, it comes from the white teenagers. Jay-Z as well as some other famous rapper made this very statement recently.I care deeply the way our society is going. Black and white. I wish these teenagers would find something better to listen to, but their homes are dysfunctional and no one is steering them to Christ. He is the answer to all ills.

Yes, but not because of IMUS. He's a racist idiot.
The rappers reflect the sad environment/mentality of those who enjoy listening to their music. Anyone who finds rap music containing derogatory lyrics enjoyable is socially and morally bankrupt. You can tell them I said so too. The only message in that music is money (for them) and ignorance (on the part of their fans, which exceeds their own.) We have to draw the line on making a dollar. I say let's draw it on the side of morality. However, nobody is listening.

Yes, they should, why aren't Jackson and Sharpton speaking out about this? This insults all women, of all colors. If they are indeed working toward equality for all, this should be their next project.

No matter how much people don't want to hear those kinds of words, people are still going to say them. I don't use those words, but I listen to music with those words in it.
