At this point I would say Kobe he is doing it against much better competition, if they were in the league now I would have to say Kobe, Mike played against some good comp, but the NBA has so many more marquee players now then it did then, not to take ne thing away from MJ because he was the man, he definitely took the game to another level at this point I still think Kobe if u look at the league then and now you really cant compare the two. Kobe is more dominant in a league full of superstars while MJ was the man in a more watered down league.

that will probably be the most debatable question for the next 10 years. mj was amazing and not to take anything away from him but i have to go with kobe on this one. he's taken over the turn around jumper and is a much better 3pt shooter than jordan. i don' t think jordan ever avg'd 35 pts a game in a season...but i may be wrong. look at the string of 50 pt games kobe had this year. 81 pts last year. the guy is just ungodly amazing. you can honestly make the same question with oscar robertson and mj when mj was just coming in the league. the big O was jordan before there was a jordan. kobe will in time be the best player to ever play the game!

MJ is the king of basketball, however, kobe ans MJ share the same legacy, MJ and kobe are fierce scorers too, kobe last year averaged about 35ppg and Mj's record was about 35.2ppg so both are bery similar. remmeber kobe's 81 point game? MJ could only do 69. Although MJ had more championships and more slam dunk contests, kobe is a better shooter, kobe has done a lot of buzzer beaters like MJ has done too and he shot more 3's in a game than michael, he also makes his 3's and and his FG using a fader, MJ could fade too but kobe is more successful shooting. Remember, MJ was know cuz he had 6 straight champioships because he had more backup layers, the lakers currently only have Kobe and Odom but odom is not as offensively strong as pippen. MJ is a high flyer and he gave style to the game, Kobe made history but kobe needs something more to make him as strong as MJ....

MJ, definitely. He was a fierce competitor, and would get on teammates for not playing up to their potential, but he had a way of bringing out the best in his teammates, and kept his personal beefs with members of his own team behind closed doors.

I'll never forget Kobe screaming obsceneties at Luke Walton all the way off the court after a game where Kobe felt that Walton didn't get him the ball for the last shot fast enough (replays showed is wasn't Luke's fault). All Walton could do was hang his head and walk towards the lockerroom, absorbing the nationally televised tirade. There's never been anyone that accused Kobe of being a great lockerroom leader. He plays his guts out, and is right there in terms of talent, but he isn't the leader that Jordan was.

Even if some one passes MJ in all his stats, no one will admit that. He is a legend now. I love MJ but Kobe is just as good or he is on the road to be in the same spot light as MJ..No one will ever admit someone is better than MJ..I will pick Turiaff from the lakers...

Anyone who says Kobe doesn't know anything about basketball. MJ for sure. I think Pistol Pete was the second best.

Michael Jordan, for one Mike has established that he was a better leader. His sheer determination and never say die attitude have inspired his teammates to pick-up their games. Also take note that Mike did it without a formiddable center to back himup. Sure, some would argue that Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Ron Harper, Steve Kerr, Horace Grant were there at the time he made Chicago champions of the basketball world, But mind you Kobe has Shaq! The mere mention of the Diesel's name would have shocked guys because at the time it was Shaq's prime he also had Glen Rice in his first ring. He had Ron Harper, Horace Grant, Derek Fisher, Devin George for the other two. Man-per-man Kobe has better people around him. He had Shaq around him. Without Shaq the Laker's struggled to get to play-offs contention much like when jordan left the first time in 1994.

Ending note: With the help of Shaq, Miami won for it's self their first ring. Kobe or Michael Jordan? Easy to say who's more valuable of the two.

MJ, of course. interior the previous, communities would usually draft huge men and construct the team round them. Jordan replaced all that. he's one shelter whom you may want to construct a team round. only look at what befell interior the '80 4 draft. Portland, picking 2d, stubbornly and adversarial to all suggestion, chosen the damage-companies huge guy Sam Bowie, and they have been cursed ever because. on the different hand, the Bulls next picked MJ and issues were by no potential the same back for the team. They struggled interior the playoffs for 6 years till they were given each of the right products to encompass Jordan with and some thing else became historic previous. Jordan did not choose no celeb huge guy to win. All he needed became Pippen and more than a number of overachieving gamers.
