In some places, ATM stands for 'Any Time Money', a term used by some bankers. Thus 'ATM Machine' would perhaps be right in these places!

Because, funny enough, most people don't know the 'm' in ATM means machine. They probably think it means something else, like 'money'.

You see.......that's what they name it on the POSB automatic teller machine , "ATM" if i am not wrong. Somehow we just like to say it in short form , easier to remember & to say it out !

Because when ATM's first came out, like what 25/30 years+ ago, it was shorter than the full name, and the acronym just stuck.
