The slope of this line is (5- -4) / (0- -3) = 9/3 = 3

Lines that are perpendicular have slopes that are opposite signs AND reciprocals. Therefore, the slope of perpendicular to a slope of 3 is -1/3

m = (-4 - 5) / (-3 - 0)
m = -9 / -3
m = 3

perpendicular means negative recipricol:
