I've heard that non-idol fans form an alliance to vote for the least likely winner and skew the ratings. I don't know if this is fact, but it seems likely, since some contestants who prove they are talent-challenged stay on the show when more promising contestants are voted off.

There's supposedly a conspiracy going on, and everyone's supposed to vote for him. the conspirators want to see american idol fail and fall. SO, they keep voting for the worst singer in the show to mess the show up.
