Im gonna skip the boring explanation.... 18 animals of the 42 in the zoo are mammals....

Don't you just love it when the numbers in maths problems divide so well into each other?
How do we know that they are not the only three mammals in the zoo? Is 7 are representative sample of the total zoo population. Do you include the zoo keepers? They are technically animals. So many questions. Not so simple now.

How many times does seven fit into 42...6 times, so 6 x 3 = 18

42/7 = 6
6x3 = 18
18 out of 42 are mammals

its 18. u just set up a proportion. x/42=3/7. 42x3=126. 126/7=18. so ther u go
