Beethoven was sampled in Thicke's "When I get you Alone" a few years back.
He was a 1 hit wonder for years, but reinvented himself as Robin Thicke and has a #1 single, "Lost Without You."
But maybe his first single is what you are talking about when he was only known as Thicke.

I don't know if it is the right one, but I loved the song by David Usher called Black Black Heart. It had a female vocalist as well and during the chorus there were like opera singers. Below is a video with the sog playing in the background....please ignore the fact that it is buffy the vampire slayer...lol
