Does the ignorance of people make you want to give up on educating them, or even being on Yahoo! amswers at all?
It saddens me to hear people ranting about a topic that they dont fully understand, or are pulling their opinions from what they learned in middle school. Why don't they take some college level courses about culture and society, about africanamerican history, about modern politics. I wish you had to have a certain degree of education in order to make comments here.
Sometimes I feel like giving up and letting people believe the lies they are telling themselve.

for the people below, i am not talking about white people. i am talking about all people who make pass judgement based on what they know and have never sought to find real answers. (i have a few cousins who will not trust white ppl no matter what i tell them) im not saying you have to go to college to be smart, but you need to be taught or read something, people cannot just pull history from their brains.
I by no means am an expert on anything, i have met so many smart people that i wish everyone could hear these people speak, and dont like to see people influence others in a negative way.

I have given up! I live as a hermit these days because I can't deal with it anymore. I will just continue to read my books and trying to improve myself.....and in the long run that is about all a person can do isn't it?

This racism spewing from all sides in this category tonight is definitely enough to make me ill. I agree with you completely. When I see comments like white people were never kept as slaves or that it was indentured serventry and not slavery it makes me wonder what school they went to, what classes they took. And when people make comments like We should rename Africa Apeland or Gorilla Land, it makes me wonder what kind of upbringing they had.
Now we are all going to have a small prejudices, everyone of us. But the smart ones are the ones who put it aside and look at people for who they are before making a definitive conclusion about that person.
This site category tonight is disgusting me. There are very few thoughtful questions posted.

To an extent what you are saying is true, but we should never give up on helping people. You seem to be quite judgmental here and I feel that each person has a right to his/her opinion. Not one of us knows everything about history. Maybe everyone is not as well educated as you, but who are you to judge or state that we all need to have a degree to answer? . It is up to the person who ask the question to choose what they feel is the best answer.

I agree with you. This should not be a ranting and raving site or anything involving political or religious issues. There's racism, discrimination, derogatory remarks, bad avatars and complete nonsense in here.
But normally, I would skip those questions. When people answer, it gives the offender the power of authority to lord it over everybody else. If you don't answer, it gives them no ammunition.
It's not rocket science. It's common sense.

I'm glad that you care enough to try and teach lots of people here on Yahoo! Answers.
But you should understand that not everyone will listen, and not everyone will learn. If they make racist, dumb, or unneccessary comments, well... It's their problem, not yours- and they're only trying to spread the problem instead of just giving it because they don't feel good.
So don't worry about it, and let them go on with their life- there are lots of people here and as good as you may be, you can't teach them all.
Well, just be glad that you're not the only one that's smart, and there are many people like you out there.
Good luck.

You are so right. People can vote in real elections who don't even know the most basic things about politics and our system of government, for leaders who will wright our laws and control our lives. They will have our very freedom is their hands. This is just some meaningless website.

I agree, today's social standards are found way below the college level.
Ignorant people who think they know what they are talking about only encourage ignorance.
As sad as it is, it is not a law to be stupid.

Don't feel so bad, sweetie. Some people have been given good minds; as for the rest of us, we rely on YOU to tell us what's up! So, what lies are you talking about?

Yes I was thinking about that today. I feel like why try to explain explain things to people that they will never understand. Some people never change, they are so against everything, and will never think of anybody different from them as a human being.
