Agree on that and also think that if there were no NAACP, no Al Sharpton, no Jesse Jackson there might not be so much racism in America.

He is an opportunistic individual - Her jumps on causes where he feels Blacks have been harmed or defamed. When proved wrong he never has apologizes.

I am not an Imus fan - never really listen to his show. I understand he said a couple of words and probably has said similar comments over his career - I also hear that he has done much public good. The comments of recent are no big deal - worst things have been said to me about my background - big deal. We blow things outta whack. Mr Sharpton is a buffoon

Let me see...bigot??? Bigot (from Webster's) = one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance. With that definition Al Sharpton is not a bigot. He may be opportunistic but not a bigot. He is a seeker of unbiased justice. Maybe justice is not always found in his endeavors, but he does seek it as well as the publicity. I really don't understand the hate directed towards Al Sharpton. He does not create the controversial situations he gets involved in.

First of all I was in Poughkeepsie when the Tawana Brawley stuff was going one. I was really angry with Sharpton at the time. but I have come to understand that Sharpton was totally manipulated by Tawana's lies.

For hundreds of years black people have been exploited, oppressed, murdered, maimed and forced to be social slaves far past the end of slavery. It's still a struggle for black people in the US. Someone has to stand up for people's rights.

I think Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would be right there with you if you were discriminated against; I do not think they are totally motivated by color but their priorities are helping African Americans to overcome injustices. Sometimes they are lied to or manipulated. I would still rather have them in our world than think there were still downtrodden oppressed people with no champions for their causes.

Wherever there is publicity you will find Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. Jackson is a slime dog that stretches his hand out for money (literally), everywhere he goes.

He certainly is a racist, and he has no right to judge Don Imus. Don't forget the lies he told about those boys at Duke University, and they were totally innocent.

Just look at how he became famous. He coerced a young black girl into saying a white man raped her. There is a special place in hell for him and Jessie Jackson.
