the man made a bonehead remark.whoa.he picks on everyone,he always has.the girls on rutgers team would have never known what was said, who he was and probably cared less, unless sharpton and his cronies wouldnt havemade it such an issue.men like shapton profit over starting trouble and taking advantage of there own people.the media has made this such a bad thing forgeting all of the double-standards us caucasions have to live with, question?if the the tables were turned and sharpton made a similar remark towards white athletes would this be an issue? i dont think so,i dont think id even know he said it.imus made a mistake, hes been through plenty.does anyone agree or am i just alone on this

You are 100% correct on this. The 2 weeks suspension would have been enough punishment for Imus. But since CBS is a boneheaded liberal owned and operated organization, they had to bow to the intense pressure that Sharpton and Jesse Jackson caused. The tables have already been turned. There is a black radio DJ named Tom Joyner who is known to spew anti white bigotry on the air as part of normal daily routine on the air. Why hasn't Sharpton protested about this IDIOT before? The reason is simple, Sharpton is an anti white racist himself. His actions of the past have already proven that. Anyone remember the Tawana Brawley fiasco of the mid 1980's? A white prosecutor named Steven Pegonase (spelling) was named the suspect BY SHARPTON HIMSELF who raped Ms. Brawley. There was NO EVIDENCE at all that Mr. Pegonase was involved in that alleged "rape". Sharpton had his own personal agenda of starting a race war between black and white. The man is a filthy scumbag LIAR!

I like the guy and his show( it is hard catch here on the West Coast, though, since it is on from 3-6 in the morning), but what he said is hard to defend. He called the Rutgers women's basketball team " A bunch of rough looking nappy headed ho's." He really stepped over the line this time with a racial and sexually insulting comment. I don't believe he is a racist, though. He just spoke without realizing what he was saying. It does gall me to see people like Reverend Sharpton who are publicity hounds make political gain out of this. Sharpton has made anti semitic comments in the past and has no room to criticize. I hope Imus can weather the storm. His is the only show that gets big name politicians on night after night, like John McCain and Joe Biden. The air waves will be a duller place without him. Proctor and Gamble and Staples have both pulled advertising from the show, so this could be his undoing. People are quick to judge and jump on the bandwagon. Imus should stay. We actually agree on something. What has gone wrong with the world?

While it is true that some activists made a spectacle of this issue (and blew it way out of proportion), it is also true that the comments made were highly insensitive, prejudicial, and hateful. Just because he has made these comments through out his carrier doesn't make it right. In fact, it makes it "more" wrong.
We have free speech in this country. The concept of free speech only means you won't be committing a crime by saying anything one wish. It never meant you won't face consequences outside of court.
Basically, that is what he received. Advertisers backed out and large group of listeners turned away. Some mistakes are hard to correct. He is old enough to know what's acceptable and what is not. He has been crossing the line for many years, and this time, he irritated few too many people.

No Don was in the wrong all the way -he even admitted it on the TV when he was interviewed. It went beyond what is generally considered tasteful -if he had said they were not good players or something about the game or their abilities that is one thing but to attack someone by calling them "nappy headed ho's" is something entirely different!!!

It's my understanding that he referred to the black female team members as "nappy headed ho's"?
WOW, if this is correct, I'm pretty disgusted. Yes, ppl make mistakes but come on....
If he were a black man that referred to a white female team as "cracker headed ho's", I'd be just as disgusted.
I think educated ppl are capable of speaking with class and not like trash...
I'm a white female... just FYI... I hold ppl accountable for their actions, words...not according to the color of their skin or ethnicity.
I think his words were ridiculous and he certainly should be held accountable. I think society should get their **** together anyway and get rid of the likes of this kind of commentary anyway...
