I'm talking about my 2006 Chev Impala LTZ 3.9 ltr. I drive frequently between US and Canada.

i own a shop,and the answer is no, using the cruise control has no affect on the engine what so ever, it just helps you maintain a certain amount of speed ,that's all it does,it doesn't make the engine last any longer or shorten the life of it any at all good luck with it hope this helps.

Not at all, steady state cruising is actually very easy miles for a car. You'll get a lot of miles with comparatively little wear on the engine and tranny.

The opposite of that would be rough service; like a NYC taxicab. In cases like that, the manufacturer requires more frequent maintenance.

no problem at all, the computer will assess the situation, and make all the adjustments needed to maintain speed, even change gear if you encounter a grade (steep hill). all you have to do is keep the car on the road, right?

possibly, stayin in any gear 2 long without changing or shifting is bad 4 the car
