i read online that they are in the works of the mummy 3 and not the one with the rock because thats not really part of the mummy. I just want to makes sure i dotn want to get my hopes up

Yes. It focuses on their son Alex and it's going to deal with an Asian mummy. Jet li is going to be the mummy.
Plot summary: Alex, the trouble-seeking son of adventurers Rick and Evy O'Connell, unearths the mummy of the first Emperor of Qin.
The tentative release date is July, 11th 2008.

I actually read somewhere yesterday that there is going to be a Mummy 3. Brendan Fraser signed up for the project but Rachel Weisz (sp?) did not.

Brendan Fraser and Michelle Yeoh are only rumored...Looks like Jet Li is the only person confirmed. The movie's screenplay is by Miller and Gough of Smallville fame.
It is set for 2008, but like all movies, if they can't get a cast and money etc. it may be longer.
