Has any team ever scored a short-handed goal during a 5-on-3 penalty? In other words, the team only has three non-goalie players on the ice while the opponent team has five, yet the short-handed team scores a goal.

By the way, if you manage to find something, please include the web site you used. I wouldn't be surprised if no team has ever done it, though, 'cause I haven't found anything.

I mean any team in a professional league (AHL, OHL, NHL, Russian leagues, international competitions, etc.).

Chris R, I think that the game you're talking about was a February 2006 game where the Sens scored 3 short-handed goals against the Pens. However, none of these were on 5-on-3's. I checked all the other games of the season just to make sure...so...

Yup, the Sens did it last season against the Pens, they also scored 2 shorthanded goals while killing off one penalty, but that was in a different game.

The Pens MIGHT have done it against the Leafs this year, but I'm not too sure

It doesn't happen too often because you just dont want to take the risk.

Phil Housley definitely did it for the Sabres against the Quebec Nordiques, in Quebec, in the late 1980's. Remember watching it on TV.

The last one I remember was Brett Hull for the Dallas Stars, but I forget the year.

There was one against the Pens earlier this year... and they came so close to doing it last night against Ottawa...

I just checked... the one against the Pens earlier this year was Richard Park of the Islanders

i am almost positive one has although i can not remeber the last time i heard it happening but i think that it has to have happened somtime over the years
