Who is a famous American (living or dead) who has contributed to society and is/was 65 yrs or older?? It would be great if anyone knew??

Benjamin Franklin was 65 in 1771. He not only helped craft the Declaration of Independence 5 years later, but then was Ambassador to France from 1776-1785, and helped sway France to our side, aiding in the victory over the British.

Bless you! Could you at least limit it down to a catagory, for example? African Americans? Artists? Business Leaders? National "Characters"? Cultural Figures? Inventors? Pioneers and "Firsts"? Politicians & Activists? Scientists? Sports Figures? Accomplished Women? Writers & Poets?

Some context wouldn't hurt, either!

PS : I seem to remember that Walt Disney died a few days after his 65th birtday. And author Erica Jong just celebrated her 65th birthday.

He did a lot in his post presidency and possibly the only one i can think of that's actually over 65 to qualify for your question Most others were under 65.

Ronald Regan

He was president from the time he wa 70 years old to the time he was 78.

The oldest man elected president.

I'd say he was a pretty influential figure
