The same standards that apply toward Imus should also apply toward other men in our society like rap stars such as Ice Cube.As a woman I think it is deragtory, racist and should be banned from our society, those same standards in the case of Imus should be taken against some rappers too.That it is genralizing.

I just think all rights should apply towards all women and men not just one race, cause it is generalizing and as a woman and mother I too reject to the deragatory words used by some rap stars, except r&b and I will never let my son listen to that foul music, cause he will be raised to respect women.

No, all people who say anything about any one that is deragtory should be punished for it. You may have the freedom of speech but along with it comes responsibility. Women are not the only ones who are talked about negatively.

Banning words does not help. As long as certain words bother people, those words will thrive.
You can't ban people. You can disrupt their wages by not buying or listening to what they have to offer. I will not let my kids listen to or watch things that I think are offensive, but I do not agree on banning them. The only ban I would support is one that is for protection from physical harm. If Imus told his listeners to kill someone, than he should be fired. If a rapper tells someone to shoot someone in their lyrics, than that rap should not be broadcast.

What about those Girls Gone Wild videos. They seem to sexist don't you think? I've seen numerous clips of rap videos showing girls dance in bikini and its being called sexist. So doesn't the girls gone wild vids be included and be banned for late night TV? Those Informericials treat White girls like whores? Getting them drunk and to perform sex acts for the camera. Now take about a double standard. Why isn't anyone talking about banning them?
Heavy Metal has tons of hate and violence and treats women as sex objects.
So I'm all for banning everybody for using racist, sexist comments. Just be sure you include everyone.
