Once a person turns 18, they are no longer under their parents guardianship. An 18 year old is no longer a minor and granted the same rights her parents once held for him/her. New Jersey does not have any statutes that allow a minor to be emancipated from their parents. The only stipulation to this is that if the child enlists in the military with their guardians consent or if the child is given or put under state custody. It is explained in detail here:
