Its been a while - but those are flowers - he used to either swing them around or just stick 'em in the back of his pants. I read somewhere once they were a tribute to another singer but no amount of Googling is jogging my memory.
Johnny Marr - yes he does look a bit rough now. Happens to us all in the end.
Incidentally - you know Morrissey was a sex symbol in his day.
