In the USA all pharmacy students are working on their four year Doctor of Pharmacy degrees at the Colleges of Pharmacy. Some pharmacy schools will allow you to enter after two years of college if you have all your prerequisites. Some require two years plus you must take the PCAT exam (like SAT only much harder) and some require or prefer that you complete a 4 year Bachelor's degree - so you must spend from a minimum of six up to eight years in college.

Competition to get into pharmacy school is getting extremely tough. An article in our local paper said that our state pharmacy college accepted only 90 kids from over 1000 applicants. So, coming from a community college you will be at a disadvantage competing against kids from the four year colleges. You will need to get a very high GPA in all your pre requisite courses in order to have a chance to get into the pharmacy program.

The usual pre-reqs for pharmacy are 2 terms of biology, 2 terms of general chemistry, two terms of organic chemistry, biochemistry, and a high level math course like calculus, and perhaps a statistic course. These are all tough courses and you need to get very good marks in them all.

I obtained a BS in chemistry after which went to paintings as a chemist in an electrical application as a vigour plant chemist. (Utilities rent many chemists to do gas, water and environmental analyses). I learned the nice chemists additionally knew how the plant labored, so the lab outcome would be interpreted and acted on. After a couple of years of this, I left and obtained a Master's in Chemical Engineering due to the fact I used to be extra interested within the software of chemistry than staying within the lab. I went again to the application enterprise, however in a quite distinctive ability. Can the roles overlap? Yes, however engineers get extra possibilities and admire, if you're going to. In any production atmosphere, engineers rule. As some distance as grad faculties that take each majors, you're going to simply must appear at all of the ChE techniques and ask or appear on-line to look. My institution did take each, however that used to be a application that now not exists and I have no idea if someone else does it.

If you successfully complete all your courses at the community college, you could transfer and graduate within the remainding 2 years. And receive your Bachelors Degree. Once your are finished with undegraduate studies, you can then apply to Pharmacy School, and take all the neccessary steps to obtain that particular degree. It should take about 8 years all together!
Good Luck to ya
