The difference is that Imus makes his living by interviewing legitimate and respectable guests - presidential candidates, govenors, pulitzer prize winners, business leaders, etc. Those types of guests draw BIG time corporate sponsors.
If those guests and those sponsors distance themselves from Imus, then rightly or wrongly, he's cut his own throat.
With Savage - no respectable person will go near him anyway. I don't listen to his show so I have no idea what kind of sponsors he has. Probably online poker and casinos, "dating" services and bottom of the barrel stuff like that.
