There has been a substantial amount of evidence found to confirm who built the pyramids, their reason for doing so and how this remarkable engineering feat was achieved.
It was a mystery that has provided much speculation for the public and conspiracy theorists, including that of alien visitors, in the past.
This odd theory has now been well debunked by the achievements of archaeologists and Egyptologists who have devoted many years of research and investigation into the method of construction of the pyramids by the ancient Egyptians.
Among these dedicated scholars is Mark Lehner who originally came to Egypt as a proponent of the predictions and theories of Edgar Cayce regarding the pyramids.
Mark is now a leading authority on the pyramids and their 4th and 5th Dynasty Egyptian builders. He works full time excavating and recording data for research at the workers village and the Wall of the Crow on the Giza Plateau.
The evolution of Royal burial in Egypt from the mastaba to the pyramid began in the 3rd Dynasty but it was not until the building of the pyramid of Djoser that we can say that the Egyptians had unlocked the engineering secret of degree of incline vs weight. Understanding this allowed them to build a pyramid that was indeed fit for a royal burial.
The brilliant mind behind this incredible leap in construction skills and technique was the famed Imhotep. He would later become deified by the Greeks and be worshipped at one of the three pyramids of Giza.
Pyramid building reached its peak in the 5th Dynasty but continued for many dynasties and there are at least 200 researched and documented pyramids in Egypt.
We know much of their pyramid building skills from wall inscriptions and builders sketches made on pieces of stone. Or directly onto the walls of the quarries were the limestone was found.Such as the Muquattan Hills just outside Cairo.
The man power came from willing craftsmen and tradesmen, supported by labourers and peasants from the rural areas. These farmers would come and give their service in the name of their local Nome, during the time of inundation when no farming could take place. It was at this time of the year that it was easiest to float the huge stone blocks across the Nile on barges.
Very few slaves very ever used and those who were, had been taken as prisoners of war.
At any one time around 3,000 men were living at the workers village and playing a defined role in the construction of a pyramid at Giza.It has been estimated that it took no more than 5.000 men to build a pyramid. They work in teams with fanciful names such as The Beer Drinkers of Menukare and The Unbeatable Rouges. It is known that in some tasks these teams competed against each other for extra beer rations.
After an area was selected as suitable for the construction of a royal tomb in the form of a pyramid. The ritual of the "stretching of the cord" took place.
There are several depictions of various Pharaohs and a priestess acting as the Goddess Sheshet carrying out the ritual.
The blocks of white-stone as the Egyptians called limestone were able to be hauled by around 6 men using a sled that was hauled over wet mud. It would be the job of delegated individuals to ensure that the mud was at the optimum degree of wetness to allow the sled and stone block to glide relatively easily.
As the pyramid increased in height, ramps at an incline of no more than 45 degrees were erected surrounding the pyramid and this continued until the required height was achieved according to the plans.
Plans with mathematical computations and reworked degrees of angles have been recovered and have given a valuable insight into the building of pyramids.
When the cap stone or pyramidion was set in place the process was reversed and the finishing work began at the top and work down the levels. The blocks were ground smooth and the specially cut casing stones set in place.
The pyramid was smoothed and polished from the top level downwards
As the height reduced the ramps were demolished and removed. Finally at the level of around three layers ramps were longer needed and the pyramid stood cleared of its mud and sand support "scaffolding" for all to see.
The white polished limestone would be seen for the first time bare and gleaming in the brilliant sunlight.
It was then that the work on the inner chambers would be dressed and finished. The granite facing stones and flooring put into place. Some of the pyramids had carving or reliefs depicting the life of the Pharaoh on the passageway. More often the decoration would be used in the surrounding complex of temples and other buildings that accompanied each pyramid.
A causeway led from the entrance to the temple compound to the edge of the Nile where a purification building or Solar temple stood.
There are many books on the subject that show the maps and depictions referred to. As well as the artifacts that are in museums around the world and the Cairo Museum.
I would refer you to the B.B.C. Ancient Egyptian History site. Where you can interactively see, if you would have been a successful pyramid builder.
There are also some excellent articles on the Egyptian pyramids and their construction on the B.B.C. site and on others. Just Google in Egyptian Pyramids.
I hope this has helped you to understand a little more about the construction of pyramids and their builders methods.
It is a huge topic to cover and do some form of justice in such a short answer.

It has long be proven that the Israelites were not in Egypt at the time of the 4th and 5th Dynasties. This was a theory of the late 18th centuary.Yes, they did work on Pi Rameses the city built in the 19th Dynasty for Ramese ll But they were not slaves. The Bible is not historically correct. It is a theological document, that has been subjected to several translations. The Medieval Popes thought that the pyramids were Josephs grainstores for the famine?????You are right when you have been in each of the pyramids and the many passages and chambers. Then you begin to understand their true meaning

They did it out of religion. There were no chariots at the time , the wheel was not invented yet. The leveled the ground perfectly. They built a ramp to pull the stones along it upwards. After putting the first raw of stones they made the ramp higher and longer to keep the same angle of inclination. Then they put the second raw. And it went on like this till the top. From the top downwards they put the outer casing of stone and pulled the ramp down bit by bit. The work lasted 30 years for the pyramid of Cheops. There is another theory that suggests a spiral ramp instead of a straight one. Many people believe in the first one. You must see it for yourself. There is no proof, since no document about it was found.

There are some theories that propose how the pyramids have been geared up: a million. Ramp theory --this theory states that the Egyptians used a device of ramps to push the two tonne blocks up and into place 2. inner Ramp Thoery -presently, it is been stated that inner ramps have been used to contruct the pyramids (curiously some information has been discovered of a ramp device interior a pyramid) 3. Heave-Ho theory --this theory is coincides with the ramp theory, and proposes that the limestone blocks have been moved using sheer human potential; i.e. human beings used a device of pulleys and assorted labourers to tug the blocks and positioned them into place 4. mold theory --this theory states that the Egyptians used a style of mold so as shape the blocks. the mold may well be sqaure/oblong and shape, with all yet one area lined. they might pour the answer into the mold, and as quickly as dry, eliminate the block from the mold 5. "Alien" theory --this theory proposes the thought Divine Intervention stepped in and a few specific tension allowed the Egyptians to create one in all those ultimate ask your self (i.e. they suspect that it replaced into humanly impossible for the Egyptians to create one in all those surprising shape on their own) **there is not any ideal theory, because there has been little or no information discovered concerning to how the pyramids have been built. not something has been discovered that could state how the Egyptians geared up one in all those ask your self (they probable hid the intructions someplace lol )

The proof of who built them should never have been in doubt, the Egyptians and their slaves and skilled labourers. The whole alien thing is just a load of pants. Occams razor.
