They are targeting the younger kids, so it makes them want it and the parents will get it just to shut them up.

Usually the toy doesnt cost extra. It is just a little something for the kids to look forward to fater the meal. At some places, the toys can be returned for ice-cream, ect.

I wish they would stop. I'm tempted to buy the "toy" without the meal as I end up throwing the food away later.

Because sometimes they want 2 minipulate the little kids with cheap little toys so as they grow they'll remember how "fun" it was to go to mcdonalds, burger king etc. They just stick little ads in there to advertise for the heck of it..........

To get the kids to beg their parents for it, and then the parents wind up buying a full size meal for themselves usually too.

They want to do good advertising.
If kids see toys, they will want to go there more than if they just see a hamburger on the screen.
It's all about drawing attention to the bussiness.
