Yes, and what we see happening is our Freedom. It is becoming more controlling and our Freedom of Speach is slipping away. Also different cultures are fighting all the time. Fighting for their rights so they say. But it is an un-fair fight. They can do and say as they like, but when the slurs and etc., is done to them, they hollar Racists. That is what happens when the lack of wisdom is showing. Greed is what is happening. Greed for Power and control. To hide, lie, cheat and steal. God Bless America, because the tears are falling.

You have made a very good point here. I think the main reason that he was fired is because CBS will lose about $15 million in annual ad and syndication fees. Its a money thing not a free speech thing. If you are a highly public figure and you do what Imus did, plan on trouble. But average pe ons like you and me can say far worse and have nothing to worry about.

Imus should have been fired....the day after every record company fired every rap artist that spewed the vile hateful things that make Imus sound like a preacher. I would like to know how many of the girls on the team he insulted have paid money to own copies of this trash so they can listen to it every day. I don't like Imus just as I don not like Howard Stern. But he has the right to say this stuff in a comedy context and let the market take control after that.

No, he said something stupid and lost his job. Freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences, it simply means that the government can't silence you. As a radio dj, Imus knew perfectly well that he was an acting spokesman for his company. He did his job poorly, and was fired for it. That's as it should be.
His right as an American was not to be jailed, fired is okay.

Are you talking about Imus? He seems really stupid to me. I think instead of firing him, people should think about why he said those words. I mean, people shouldn't antagonize other people, even if they are stupid. There has to be open discussion about racial issues and other things to actually make some sort of change. It's not like he was a racist jackass all the time. It seems harsh to me.

Imus should not have been fired for what he said. He should have been fired for not attracting enough listeners to fill a bus. More people learned about his comments from your question than from hearing him say them.

some censorship isn't all that awful and what Imus spoke was nothing but the kind of filth this country doesn't need to listen to. If you feel honesty is gone, blame it on parents who simply do NOT educate their kids!!!!!!!
