Well, the direct opposite (or the antonym) of "pessimist" would be "optimist". However, if you are searching for alternative words which relate to optimist, the following could be used:
dreamer; escapist; idealist; Pangloss (or Panglossian - from the name of the tutor and philospher in Voltaire's "Candide" (1759)); Platonist; Pollyanna; quixotic; romantic/romanticist; utopian; visionary.

You could use 'hopeful', in suitable cases, though it may not be appropriate to all situations.
