I thought things were better, and I liked Obama.. but now, with white people under attack, I will NOT vote for him... and I am angry. My best friend is black, and I was a member of his wedding party, but I am not a bad guy, and all the racist crap that Al and Jesse promote upset me!

One of you said that Al and Jesse don't represent all black people... But dont they go on TV and seem to represent?

I am going to have to say this in capital letters...

If those two don't represent black people than why doesn't anyone represent the other side. Obama said that Imus was evil just like the other two race baters... I really, I mean REALLy was going to support Obama cuz I want things to be better, but it just seems to be so crazy.

I guess do sound a little like a false friend with this question... hmmmm. Maybe I will calm down, it is just when I saw Obama putting down Imus right after I saw Jackson and Sharpton do the same.. I just got kinda fed up with all the racist crapola.

Obama said he agrees with them. I do not recall him demanding the rap artist who spew much worse be released from their contracts, and that the major corporations drop there sponsorship of the stations who play that degrading trash.

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have been doing stuff like this since the civil rights movement started.

They're self-proclaimed leaders of the American black community, who see things just like white racists do: through the glasses of color.

Everything is about race, even when it isn't. They don't understand that by clinging onto the idea of races and racism that they're prolonging it more than it should be. I'm 26, and I never grew up in segregation and cannot imagine it. It just seems like the older generation is still hanging on to all these old ideas and the new generation just wants to live and be Americans together.

But I do agree that they probably feel threatened because another black leader (even though he isn't "black enough" or has the same history as most Americans of African descent) is taking the torch as the national leader for their group.

Obama is doing what Sharpton and Jackson could never do: be a serious contender for the Presidency of the United States.

They do good, but sometimes, they can't see beyond their beliefs and unite us as Americans. That is why Obama is different.

I would not change my mind based on what are 2 of the most vocal activists in the U.S... Think about it.

I agree that Al and Jesse promote racism more than anything but I don't understand what that has to do with no longer voting for Obama. Not all black people share the same views and opinions of those two men. All of this finger pointing IMO is not going to change anything. I think that this situation was blown way out of proportion and Imus's apology was good enough for me. Just listen to some rap songs and you will hear just as bad if not worst things than what Imus said about women it's disgusting.

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are what I refer to as race-pimps. They profit off any racial slur in America. The are self-appointed race police for African-Americans. What's sad is that of the many African-Americans I work with, none has told me that Al and Jesse represent their views.

What's really sad is Al and Jesse are quick to point fingers but they feel they are exempt from public scrutiny. Al is a reverse racist against many other racist and Jesse is known as a Jew hater and uses donated Rainbow Coalition money to support women he's had illegitimate children with.

And in closing, its okay in their mind if Black Rappers use the N-word and call black women names and demean all women cause they are Black. Al and Jesse are so bias they are a joke to me.

Having said all this, I think Imus was wrong and he should have quit or be fired. Not only was he wrong, but also stupid. But to have the dynamic duo of Al and Jesse on his case is an embarrassment to African-Americans everywhere.

How many times do I have to say this: Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are not God for black people. There were never elected to represent us. They don't speak for all of us.

If you decided to vote for someone because he seemed like the best candidate, why would you change that vote because of his race. That would be like voting for someone just because of their race. In Selma, Alabama, who did you see Al Sharpton with? Mrs. Clinton, not Obama. How many times have you seen Obama and Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton together.

Surely you understand that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton do not represent black men? There are many fine, decent black men just as there are many fine white and Hispanic and Asian men. [I don't mean to leave anybody out...]. Shartpton and Jackson are race-baiters. There is an unprincipaled group of weaklings who panders to them--like CBS's Les Moonves.

OH MY GOODNESS. Obama has nothing to do with those other two men. He is completely separated, don't lash out at Obama just because he has an opinion. Yes, I'm turned off by both Al and Jesse, but they have nothing to do with Obama.

You are looking at voting for Obama not Jackson or Sharpton not all black people believe the way they do look at Obama's beliefs on the issues and you may see how far he is from the other two don't judge him or all black people by two who think they got it right. I have black friends to and I will not allow two self appointed spokesmen to decide on the whole race of people

Yeah, I can see it. Al Sharpton became a celebrity and GOT a radio show because of his racism toward two White police officers--he's never apologized and no one seems to remember it. Why is it that Blacks can be racist and it is acceptable and, sometimes, rewarded for it but Whites are crucified for similar and even lesser behavior? Is this what Blacks call "equality?" I call it "hypocrisy!"
