Besides farming, how else did New England colonists make a living?

There was hunting and making clothes, but probably, each family did that. I'm sure families made their own tools, but the heavier tools, that had to be made by experts. They had bibles, so there was printing, and newspapers too...

Fishing and whaling were also major industries; because of this, shipbuilding and repair was also big business.
