This is just like the hundreds of American Idol questions.Everywhere I turn its in my face.Imus deserved it.It wouldn't have happened if he kept his rude comments to himself. Now if we could only knock down idiots like 50 Cent that would be even nicer.

Sure, I think he has a right to say whatever he wants. But that doesn't mean there won't be consequences for his words.
But CBS and MSNBC's sponsers shouldn't come back. That is if they've got any principles at all. CBS and MSNBC both were well aware of the nature of Imus's show and only after they got heat did they do something about it.
I think its also worth notiing that the network that really trumped up the whole scandal was CNN and it is no coincidence that the Imus show was kicking their butts in the ratings. Not that attacking your competitors is necessarily a bad thing just lets be honest about our motivations here.
I don't know what its going to take for people to get the message some things just aren't funny. If you're not in the family you can't act like you are or excuse your actions by saying someone in the family said the same thing. Its funny if you make fun of yourself. Its not funny making fun of someone else.

yeah it is wrong. Why can a black man use vulgar language and such to describe black women and its cool! its ok to portray black women as sex crazed, sing what amouonts to as pornographic lyrics about all the things they want to do to women and it gets top rating. But a White man says something similiar and everyone is up in arms! If Al Sharpton and the like have a beef with Imus.. they should be knocking on the doors of MTV and all the record labels out there that put those same words and worse on the air for our young children to hear. All those people should be held accountable too. Turn about it fair play.

In my opinion, no, I think this for a few reasons. Okay, at first both MSNBC and CBS were just thinking about giving him a two-week suspension after he completed a week of his show, then the show's sponsors decided to step up and take away from the show which made MSNBC the decision to do it for the marketplace because it wasn't for the reasons they were saying, and now after contemplating on the issue, CBS decides to withdraw the show. I think that the women of the team didn't get their chance to speak to him in person and face to face like they wanted to because in order for Don Imus to learn something from all of this he must first understand what he did to these women and their character as black women. His lesson isn't learned and all he lost was money and a job, so I think not - just a waste of time.

No, I don't think it was justified.
First of all I have no love for Imus and never thought he should be on the air in the first place, that said, I am now concerned that our freedom of speech is at jeopardy.
I think it's wrong to use a consitutency to drive a person from their job. What he said was no worse than what he says on any given day. It was a sad day for America yesterday,

Rosie Odonnel should be fired for her running down America. Saying we brought down our own towers just so we could go to war. Imus is crude, but rosie is not an Anerica lover

you recognize, you have made a brilliant attempt to sound intellegent inclusive of your learn etc. even though all of it comes right down to the fundamentals. Imus become way out of line. His comments have been undeserved, slanderous, and in lots of approaches offensive. Rappers??? needless to say they have went previous boarders of their freedom of speech. i'd want to work out the rap community be sensored greater. possibly our upcoming generations would be greater respectful and have morals. shall we face it, u.s. pays those talk teach host, substantial league activities gamers, and entertainers greater funds than your regularly happening instructor, docs and legal experts. to no longer point out the time-honored worker that makes this united states of america run. right this is the deal, Imus mandatory to be reprimanded, it rather is different from this become his first time making derogitory comments, it merely finally caught as much as him. human beings act like this united states of america has been out of slavery for hundreds of years, the generations that owned slaves are nonetheless residing and have the two replaced their perspectives or have raised yet another era of hate. Hate that demeans somebody, race or lifestyle no count what colour they may well be is unacceptable and should no longer be tollerated. i'm grateful for the voice of equality, of rights, of regularly happening. i understand! What appropriate to the the terrific option to freedom of speech. I merely understand that i'm grateful for the various voices that have stood up and have been counted. i'm chuffed i will stay in a time the place a minimum of this is extremely less demanding to be who you're and that i actually do no longer want to pass backwards. If we don't placed a end to what human beings evaluate the "small stuff" it may at as quickly as become a wildfire of branch.

"Censorship is telling a man he can't have a steak just because a baby can't chew it. "
~~He was fired because they didn't want others to get the wrong idea about the network (all corrupt politics, those ppl at the station dont really care about the ppl hurt)
~~Sure, he shouldn't have said it but if he's getting fired for something like than alot of other ppl (Carlos Mencia, James Supelle, rappers, etc) should get fired too, but you don't see that happening any time soon

Yes! But let's be clear on this. He got fired because he lost $ for CBS. So many advertisers were running like roaches when you turn on the light!

He is an entertainer who has become unpopular, and so his firing is justified from a business point of view. I don't think he's a bad person. I do think his crude "humor" is disgusting. I will be glad if other entertainers start cleaning up their language in response to this.
