guarantee that they will be able to stop it at home if the terrorists ever decide to come knocking? what can stop them? racial profiling? and what would keep them from trying if they think they have any chance of success? would they feel encouraged by baghdad? don't you think success is crucial there to deter any further attacks?

my question still stands; if we can or cannot stop the bombings, what do we do? (of course, we are trying to stop the bombings...)

You win wars by making the other guy quit or realize he cannot win. In the American Civil War southern troops killed the Yankees at a rate of almost 2 to 1. Yet it became clear to the south they could not win.

The terrorist already have figured out that they are going to lose every clash with the U.S. miltiary. I can't think of a single victory they have achieved. But those among us that doubt we will win or want to set a date when we will quit give the terrorist hope. That if they can hang on long enough we will quit. I am fairly sure it would all be over right now if the terrorist believed we would not quit. Because that is their only hope.

I think we are also trying to be diplomatic when it is not appropriate. The Iranians and the Syrians are supplying expolsives and know-how to the terrorist in Iraq. Which in my book puts them at war with us. One of the lessons of Vietnam is we cannot allow the terrorist to have a Sanctuary where they can hide without concern of being attacked and from which to supply their operatives in the field. That means the gloves need to come off and the cost of providing material support needs to be too high for the Syrians and Iranians to pay.

Its not the bombings we are trying to stop. There is no way we or anyone can stop the bombings, but there is one way. We are fighting over there for one reason, and the White House, nor the President Bush will tell the truth. It's like they hold something up in one hand, so you don't notice whats in this hand. The only way to stop the terrorism is if we stop the top people who supply them money, weapons, and resources. Some of the more important country who support them have been Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and N. Korea (potentially, especially if they develop nuclear technology). So what we do is try to cut those life lines. And more importantly, these countries and groups have the resources because of oil. Oil is a huge commodity and whoever has control over it, will control the area. We aren't pulling troops out and we aren't setting deadlines until we gain control over the oil. Once we have the oil, the terrorists groups will have no resource. And the West will finally be able to control the violent Mid East.

Its Blood For Oil.

with cut and run theres is a guarantee that bombings will be here regardless of what we do if we wuss out like the pelosi ites want us too, so I agree, success is crucial but try and convince the liberal extremists of that.

The U. S. didn't go in with all their might in the first place. If we had, the war would have been over. You can't do much by waging a "politically correct" war.
