Freedom of Speech (the 1st Amendment) only guarantees that you cannot be put into jail for the things that you say. It doesn't prevent your employer to fire you because of things you said.

you don't seem to understand our constitution.

Maybe other races have abused the privilege of freedom of speech, possibly the African Americans have only important things to say, maybe all this time you've been speaking rubbish. By claiming that African Americans have only the freedom of speech you are saying that what you and I just said meant nothing at all. Freedom of speech occurs all the time, even when a small girl tells a friend a secret, freedom of speech means saying what you think, what you believe, what you care for, what you need, what you feel.

It does seem as tho "politically correct" is getting more and more complicated. Especially when one doesn't know for sure what to say. Some prefer African/American, others say black. Some say Native American, others prefer Indian. And is that person there Gay, Lesbian, Homosexual, Queer, what?

I only remember one time when I was in cosmetology school. One company was demonstrating their new curl product for black hair. They passed out some flyers, but didn't have enough for everyone, and I didn't get one. At break, one girl asked if someone wanted hers, and I said yes, and she gave it to me. Another girl confronted me asking why I wanted to know about black hair products, me being white. I said, so I know all about the product. This is the conversation:

Why you want to know about black hair?

In case I get a black patron, I want to know what I'm doing?

Well, when I get out of here, I ain't workin on no white hair!

Well, that's your choice, but I don"t have that luxury.

And it's true, I don't.

i would have to agree with you on this seeing that the reverand jesse jackson and al sharpton only want to come out on the white race and pay no attention to what is even going on in their own race. rap songs singing about whores and bitches always using the n word .I am getting tired of this political correctness only on the white Americans are we held at a different standard than the blacks

Good point. As some have said , if there are consequences for the things you say , then why aren't the rappers being bashed. The things they say are much more disgusting than what Imus said , and the same people who are mad at Imus go out pay good money to hear these rappers spew even worse garbage.

NEWS FLASH:
African Americans, like other races, are individuals. They don't all think alike. Some are idiots and use the N word. Others are not, and don't use the N word(like myself).

And there is a difference between racism and freedom of speech. DUH.

You can say whatever you want. But, there will always be consequences for saying stuff. Do you think it is ok to yell "Fire" in a crowded theater? Do you think it is ok to phone in a bomb threat?

Actually go outside, and see if you don't change your mind about what you said! Blacks are shown on television saying whatever, while the White people who are on tv trying to seem innocent, go back to their neighborhoods and say what you see people on here saying now! Better yet, watch Jerry Springer!
