SanDisk Sansa 2GB. Most of my audio files are WMA, not MP3, so 2GB is a LOT. It's good for moving MP3s around at the radio station too (there's been a problem with our network for a while now that nobody can seem to pinpoint,) and the thing also has a mic for recording. You can also put non-audio files on it and use it as a regular old flash drive. It's drag and drop as well, very good to have.

3 year old 20gb Sony Network Walkman NWHD3 Pink.
http://products.sony.co.uk/sony_nw-dh3.asp
"The built-in 20 GB hard disc can hold the equivalent of 13,000 tracks or 900 CDs worth of music when using high quality ATRAC3plus audio compression technology. It offers 30 hours of uninterrupted playtime from a single battery charge and withstands almost all kinds of movement to deliver a skip-free performance. "
All of the above is true, I wouldn't trade it in for ANYTHING.

iRiver T-10 Blue (1gb)
Why this one?
1 - flash memory so I can bang it around without worrying
2 - AA battery for very long life and easy to replace.
3 - able to play OGG as well as MP3 and WMA files
4 - able to 'drag and drop' music files (don't need to use Windows Media Player)

I have a 3-year old iRiver that I take to the gym. It's perfect for the gym because it's small, works great, and is not as likely to get stolen (it's old).
For the car we use my husband's iPod Nano because it holds more songs and it has the library option...it's great for kids' tunes.
