I am so saddened over the passing of this wonderful actor. I remember him from "The Cowboys", and as the lawyer trapped in an elevator with Archie Bunker on "All in The Family." But I think my favorite role of his was the Professor on "The Cosby Show". I remember a very funny scene on "The Cosby Show" in which he and Bill Cosby rubbed the head of Earle Hyman, (Cliff Huxtable's father, who had just lost a poker game in that episode I think) and the Professor quoting Shakespeare: "Aye, there's the rub." What a fine actor he was. He will be missed.

That is sad..I did'nt know he was the voice of the Kingpin...he was a regular on Good Times, 227, Amen, Cosby Show, A Different World, and The Jeffersons....a solid actor who was a veteran of plays and he could sing....probably could have been the Laurence Fishburne or Wesley Snipes of his time if given the opportunity...he was probably just as talented as Harry Belafonte and Sidney Poitier but never got the recognition...Morgan Freeman was one of those guys until people say him in "Glory" with a young Denzel Washington....he just did'nt get cast in their right movies or TV shows to become a household name....Danny Aiello, James Gaffadini(Tony Soprano), Samuel Jackson, James Edward Almos, Luis Guzman, and Giancarlo Esposito could have ended up like Roscoe....he paved the way for alot of non traditional leading men especially minorities...African Americans and Hispanics

Toryswife, you're so sweet to ask. Keilidh (aka "Rockin Retriever") is a great young lady across the pond in Scotland. She and her folks are Golden Retriever people. Roscoe was lost rather suddenly less than a week ago much to Rockin's grief. We all felt her pain. She was going to show him in Jr. Handler at Crufts, if I'm not mistaken. I'm rusty, but I'm thinking Crufts is the "Westminster" of the UK. Very sad indeed. We haven't seen hide nor hair of Rockin since Tuesday, so we're all a bit concerned. Anyone know when Crufts is? She may be at a show. Let's hope so.

Yes, I remember, with great fondness, the episode of 'All in the Family' he did, as well as his deadpan serious, yet hilarious portrayal of Saunders, Benson's replacement on the late '70's comedy sitcom soap opera sendup, "Soap".
Here's a little tidbit, for the uninformed sci-fi fans out there: Roscoe Lee Brown starred as the cybernetic sentinal humanoid mechanism, known as 'Box', in the original 1976 feature film, 'Logan's Run' (remember the frozen cavern-like compartments beneath the domed city, which Michael York's character, Logan 5, and Jenny Agutter's character, Jessica 6, inadvertantly stumbled upon, in their search for the mythical 'Santuary'???......."Fish...and Plankton...and Sea Greens...and Nutrients From the Sea!!!......It's My Job...to Freeze You!!!")

I loved Browne as 'Saunders' on the sitcom Soap. His comic timing in the Tate household was so funny. The first time I remember seeing him was in one of my fave comedies Uptown Saturday Night where he played the politician. His was an amazing actor and his voiceovers were always top notch. He didn't get the fame and fortune of others, but I'm sure that he has an unlimited amount of respect from his colleagues and fan alike.

Solid actor with an unbelievable speaking voice. I loved him in The Cowboys, especially at the end when he's praying in front of Bruce Dern and asks forgiveness of men he's killed, and those he's about to...
Also, loved his voice of Box in Logan's Run. It's really the only scary part of the movie, and Browne's voice is great. He'll be missed.

I rmember his voice. There are not to many other people out there with voices so distincitve and powerful, voices that make you listen, voices that are so filled with character.
Not many people have that voice, not many at all.
