I am not a big fan of so called ministers who want to involve themselves in politics but I do support their efforts in the Don Imus incidnet.

Al Sharpton is not now and never has been the issue. People are complaining that he should apologize to the Duke lacrosse players. The facts are as follows:

(1) Sharpton reacted to the accusations that were made against the boys.

(2) The information came directly from the authorities.

(3) The information was disseminated by the various news media.

(4) Don Imus made sexist and racist, offensive comments about the Rutgers University basketball team.

(5) Millions of people who tune in to Imus heard the comments, many found them funny, many others found them offensive.

(6) Sharpton, along with many other people, both black and white demanded that Imus apologize. Many demanded that he be fired.

Now, since the authorities released the rape accusations to the media, and the media in turn, publicized the information, why do people want an apology from Sharpton but not from the news media? Did anyone demand an apology from NBC, CBS, CNN, FOX, etc., when they gleefully reported this alleged rape and made it larger than life? In addition to that, where did whites get the idea that Sharpton is the "voice of the (black) people?" Who nominated him? He is an outspoken man and he does have a loyal following, but where did whites get the idea that every outspoken black person is a leader of the black race? Who is the leader of the white race? Ludicrous, isn't it? People need to deal with the issue of racism, insensitivity and disrespect and not dwell on Al Sharpton, the individual, then it would not be necessary to waste time on this nonsense.

He is a racist & a hypocrite!!! A voice of the people?? His voice is only bringing on more hatred & racism!!! I watched Hannity & Colmes last night & they read off many statements that Al Sharpton made against other races (Greeks, Jews, Whites) et et...Has he apologized? No...So what makes him any better than Simus? At least Simus acknowledged that he was wrong for what he said & asked for Forgiveness...Sharpton hasnt humbled himself to do so & never will!! So is he a hypocrite?? ABSOLUTELY!!

Aren't we all hypocrites at times? Yes he's made some mistakes but he's right on target with this issue. For the record, he has spoken out against rappers many times prior to this whole fiasco w/Imus. It wasn't a big enough media event because it was a black on black issue. Only when it involves white/black issues does the media jump on it and report it like crazy.

As for the duke players I thought they did it too....not because of anything Sharpton or Jackson said. The media did them in.... like they always do. The media makes it very difficult to follow the 'innocent until proven guilty' theory.

Even though he seems to be a voice of the people at times (the Shaun Bell case), he is being a camera-hungry opportunist right now who caused a man to lose his job. Imus' comments were out of line of course but he is being used as a pawn. The REAL offenders are still out there-the rappers and comedians who use misogynistic language and get away with it! There is a double standard and it's unfair.

Al Sharpton is not only a hypocrite, he's an out right liar.
He wants all people to respect blacks, but he stands by and encourages blacks to insult and demean other races.
Al is nothing more then a blight on society, especially the black community, because he raised a bogus issue and just inflamed the white community.
It's time to take back our rights and not give in to the black community,
I for one will never support another black cause again.

Anybody who would accept recognition from a rap artist who sings about killin' crackas and refers to his own race as the "N" word should be scrutinized ! I think people like Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson are race dividers and not working to better race relations, only to stir up bad feelings in order to further their own standing in the black community ! Al Sharpton is definitely a hypocrite !!!

Sharpton would attack his own mother for camera time. His life has been one mistake after the other. From the early fabricated fiasco with tawny brawly to his ranting about the Duke players his actions have been staged to increase the discord between whites and blacks in this country.

Al Sharpton condemns Imus for his words, and rappers for their actions. He is definitely a hypocrite.
