"In Cold Blood" by Truman Capote is one of my favorites and is based off true events. Also "The Menses File" by J.E. Bird is good too although not technically based off true events.

Do you prefer mysteries or regular fiction? Tom Clancy is great if you like spy stuff. James Rollins writes adventure stories (think Indiana Jones) and Michael Creighton writes stories with a really good science background (Jurassic Park and Andromeda Strain are two of his most famous). The Devil Wears Prada was really good and try Jodi Picoult.

Bill Bryson's A Walk in the Woods. It's about his experience as a novice, and I do mean novice, hiker on the Appalachian Trail. It is very funny. One of my top ten choices. Any of Frank McCourt's books, Angela's Ashes, 'Tis, or Teacher Man. Although there is not much about wildlife, they are very good books. Hope this helps!

One of my favorite books is What's Eating Gilbert Grape by Peter Hedges. Definitely portrayal of real life situations. A good read - funny at times, sometimes sad. Try it.
