1. Genes are segments of the DNA that makes up each chromosome. One chromosome can have hundreds and hundreds of genes.
2. Genes come to an individual from the parents. The chromosomes from each parent are in the gametes ... the egg and sperm. Each cell in an individual's body has a complete set of the chromosomes.

The genes are located in the nucleus of cells. Usually, in a loose form, but they do condense and wrap into chromosomes at meiosis and mitosis.
