I am looking into starting a coffee shop/cafe that would offer gourmet coffees as well as smoothies and light lunch/dinner type foods. (soups, salads, sandwiches, basic pastries and deserts) I would also like to feature a stage where local bands, artists, and other talents could showcase there passions. I live in the northern ky area and we don't really have anything like this around so i was curious what you guys thought! I will take any advise or ideas! Thanks~

well, that seems to work elsewhere, so if no one's cornered the market, go for it!

consider your overhead, how much you'd have to spend up-front on rennovations and promotions, what your break-even point is, what customer volumes you need to remain viable, and whether your local demographics (i.e. young people with disposable income) are large enough to support you.

best of luck!

I live in Southwest Missouri and we have that all the time. Usually it's at a club or the shriner's convention or something. I think that's a great idea. It gives people an idea of different types of music, and gives amateurs a chance to warm up and show their stuff. I know 2 guys that do that all the time, and they travel all over the place and play in restaraunts.
