People overreacted to the Imus comment. No question in my mind. But you know what? Blacks and women fought long and hard to overcome generations of opression, and you can't blame them for getting mad when something happens that looks like the bad old days. Even Imus appologized and said it was stupid, so there's no sense in martyring him here.

For one thing, Stevie Wonder is a beloved black musician and like you said he was talking about HIMSELF. Also, those basketball players didn't get mad at Imus calling them "nappy" because black folks know our hair is nappy, but they got mad because he called them "HOS" Also, Imus was a influential white man, with his own radio show that alot of people listened to. He had NO right calling those girls that on the air, it was inappropriate. i don't like that rappers can call women "bitches" and "hos" all day long and nobody cares either. But the Bottomline: Some things just shouldn't be said, Imus crossed the line that's it. Just like the guy from Seinfield, yeah blacks shouldn't call each other ******, but The way he did that was terrible. In the middle of a comedy club is not the place. But like i said, some things just shouldn't be said, and whites just need to accept that fact that "yeah, it may seem weird that blacks can talk to each other any kind of way, but whites can't talk that way to black" but every race does it. It's like an imbedded code. Mexicans have their inside jokes and stuff and so does whites. So, i don't think it's a question of are whites too "chicken" i think Blacks are finally standing up to whites and they are gettin mad about it.

Personally, I wish more would stand up. If Imus didn't feel he was wrong... he shouldn't apologize. Same with the Michael Richards thing. Racism is very much alive and prevalent. And, if you have certain beliefs, then voice them. Don't be a little b*tch about it. Of course there is always going to be a some backlash. But, thats just the price you pay for free speech. If you're racist... then be racist... at least let us know who we're dealing with. I may not agree with you, but I'd have a little more respect for you.

Its people in the public eye that don't want to create controversy and look bad. If you ask any blue collar worker whats going on, their response would be different than a talk show host. Imus said, "nappy headed hos." Their heads looked pretty nappy to me.

Darrell. Darrell. Darrell. What a tangled web you weave for yourself. This is exactly how terrorist attacked us before. We were so busy hating each other that we didn't see the hate coming from abroad. If you want to stand, go ahead, but stand united or stand alone!

What kills me is that black people INSIST that white people are racist.....years and years ago, things happened that the people of today are not necessarily proud of, however why keep going back to that? Why not try to move forward instead of reverse? I agree that Imus should not have to make 1000 apologies...he said what he meant...he wasnt being racist or he would have said those black nappyheaded hoes......but he didnt...if you are offended, you must feel guilty of something...there is no reason for us to be afraid of blacks...we really need to stop referring to one race as the blacks, or the whites, or the mexicans...cant we all just be individual people in a world we all want to succeed in??

its not that we are chicken its the fact that we cant because we would be labeled a racist , take for example my piece on the number relations in the holy books , I was labeled a anti semite , but if you read it located here - http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-lc2Cu843erIwY6fujsZpxHBX?tag=religion , you can see it doesn't say anything bad about the Jewish people .

Oh wow.............cry baby....cry baby....cry baby!
I think it is time for all of you take off the diapers and put on the big boy underwear....you know the one with the hole in the front, AND GROW THE HELL UP and STOP CRYING OVER NOTHING!
Sharpton may stick his nose into everything yes, but dang...none of this would have started if IMUS would have just shut the hell up and keep his comments to himself! Bottom line!
