Is a pre law program necessary? What is the benefit of that vs. going to a community college the first 2 years to save money.

4 year undergrad (pre-law not necessary). Many times the law schools like the "weird" undergrad degrees because it makes you stand out.

Apply & get accepted to law school.

3 years of law school.

Graduate with JD degree.

Study for and take (hopefully pass) the bar.

Then you can practice law.

It's a ridiculous question, making no more sense than the ridiculous comments you are referring to. Each person is different, and asking others is not going to help YOU decide. Is it boring? Depends on what you want out of life, and what interests you. Will law school suck the life out of you? Depends on what type of thing interests you. I've known many people who thrive on digging out obscure facts and concepts, other who don't. Will you have no time for yourself? At times, but if you choose the right field of law and don't insist on fighting for every dollar, you can have as normal a life as any career. Is there a high unemployment rate? In some fields, in some places. There is a huge difference between becoming a corporate lawyer in New York and opening a real estate practice in Zebowa, Iowa. About the ONLY thing that is absolute is that you will have a huge debt load when you finish. Most lawyers are okay with that, because it's what they want to do.

All you need is a college degree; doesn't matter what in. law school takes 3 years after that. It should be fine going to community college for the first bit.
