Celia's in Berkeley near the East Shore
Freeway has good home made Mexican food.
Hit Tommy Toy's or Yank Sing in S.F. for Chinese food.
For fun, go to Sony Metreon and eat your way around the food court.

The best burger place in California is called In-N-Out. It is a fast food type of restaurant. They don't have them in many other states. They are the best. There are pretty good sushi places in San Diego and San Fransisco. The best ones are little hole-in-the-wall places. I recommend dragon rolls if you have never has sushi and are afraid of raw fish. Good luck!

in San Diego, you should definitely check out Old Town and the restaurants there. My favorite burger place here is Fuddrucker's, and pizza is California Pizza Kitchen. Their alfredo pizza is good

It sounds touristy, but you have to go down to Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf. The sourdough and chowders are amazing and well-reknowned. There's Bubba Gump's on Pier 39 too, and a cool pizza/pasta place on the upper level of Pier 39 with a great view of the water. We just took our kids and grandbaby there a couple months ago and had a blast in that area.
