One of the websites I visit is recommending me to start Corey Patterson over Willy Taveras. The site is http://www.fantasybaseballstarters.com

What matters most is why each is on your team and what numbers you hope to achieve with each. Patterson is a much better player across the board, he will hit for a higher ave, better power (way better power...15-20 HR guy to Taveras 3 or 4), many more RBI's. Scoring should be a wash, both should score plenty of runs. If it is basestealing you need then taveras is your man, he is an elite base stealer and was brought to Colorado to do just that....could swipe 50-60 bags. patterson is a very good basestealer but not at the elite level. So the question can only be answered by you and not a website...which stats to you need the most? The website is correct that Patterson is the better fantasy player overall but sometimes you need to sacrifice overall numbers if you are particularly weak in one category. If your overall production (HR, RBI, BA) are very good and you need SB then start Taveras (might be wise to wait until it warms up a bit or he is playing in warm weather...base stealers dont do well in the cold). If you are solid with SB remember Patterson is a good source of SB himself and will help your overall numbers.

In a minute. While I didn't draft Corey or Taveras, at least I would consider owning Patterson. Taveras will make an appearance on NONE of my teams this year. To be honest - he sucks the big one. Trade him to someone desperate for steals before it's too late and you just have to cut him.

Corey Patterson for sure. Taveras can get you steal and runs. Patterson is always good for average, a few RBIs and homers. I would start Patterson over Taveras in most situations.

Start Corey over Taveras. Taveras is only good for runs and stolen bases. Corey won't score as many runs but he will provide home runs, rbi and stolen bases at a decent average. Patterson actually stole more bases than Taveras last year, and it seems redundant to have them both.
