Are we witnessing a bit of selective indignation and outrage?
And is it really over anything at all? Do people really know the difference in hate and humor anymore?
If anything you say is hate, I would all black people to stop greeting each other as "*****".

The word that Yahoo Answers so cheesily asterisked out above is "n.i.g.g.a."
Times change, as does language, and the N word just doesn't have the impact it once did. Why an entity as cosmopolitan as Yahoo feels the need to be so PC when blacks themselves seemingly embrace the word now makes no sense. In another 50 years there will probably be another random grouping of letters (a word, in other words) that will have assumed the mantle of offensive racial epithet. So in a way, it's ludicrous that people get offended over just WORDS.
If someone hit you, now that would be something to get offended about, but a word can't break your skin.

I don't agree with the use of the "N" word or any other word that is degrading to any race of people (in comedy or otherwise; even if it's your OWN race). What's funny about debasing others? People really need to learn SELF CONTROL! You can practice as much bigotry as you please in the PRIVACY OF YOUR OWN HOME, but don't insult yourself by doing it in public! It only spotlights your IGNORANCE and hurts others!

honestly! that's not the 1st time Imus has made insulting racial comments...and consistent with probability if he's canned, it may well be the final time. How do you're saying "nappy headed hos" with out malice? besides the undeniable fact that, Imus isn't the only public determine who has disrespected black females. What approximately Eddie Murphy with is disgusting Norbit movie? What relating to the manufacturers of massive Mama's homestead? while are human beings going to end treating black females as we are honest interest while it includes stereotyping, defaming and demeaning? I for am only bored with it! it is fantastically much such as you are able to desire to be skinny and blonde to get any variety of appreciate or love in this society...and it stinks!!!

I am not a fan of Dave Chappelle because he is no better a person for saying the things that he does about my race than what Imus said. I would expect and hope that if Chappelle did the same thing that he would be fired as well.
Free speech does have limits, if you don't believe that try going around in public and say you are going to kill the president.

Who? Sorry, don't get out much. Got the gist from other answers. Are not a shrink. My common man opinion is
ignore this. I would have too but wanted the two points in
answering. Fine. Lets resolve this old school. Toe a ten foot diameter circle in the dirt. Anybody can step into the circle
with one empty long neck beer bottle in their hands. Last
one standing wins. Anything goes. I'm done talking.

The sad thing is probably not! There is too much of a double standard in this country! Everyone should be held to the same standard-rappers get away with misogynistic lyrics and songs and get away with it but if a white person says the same thing, all hell breaks loose! And I agree that blacks need to stop calling each other the n word!

I did a continuation blog on this very same issue and it basicly boils down to this. "Reverse Racism"
Want to know why racism still exists today? Well there you have it. We let it die along time ago. I even have black friends who chimed in on my blogs and completely agreed with all that was said.
Sad how people expect compensation for the rest of their life over something that never specifically happened to them in the first place. Not to mention how the simple fact that it did has led to them having better lives here in the US. Have you ever been or seen what living in the mother land is like?
Just my 2 cents.

Honestly, I don't think there would be any outrage.
Apparently they can bash themselves left and right (in the media and so on), downgrade themselves in society and say its okay, yell at those that chose not to downgrade or do the gangbanger-rapper/thug thing calling them traitors, but when someone of another race says the same thing-- 'OH MY GOD WE'RE VICTIMS, WE'RE OFFENDED!'
its like .. uh.. two wrongs don't make anything bettter!

If Chapelle said it you would have never heard about it because whites are not out there just waiting to be offended.
They need to get a life.
When they quit calling each other N.I.G.G.A.S and their women ho's then maybe we will be watch what we say.

Of course not! And when Jesse Jackson refers to NYC as "Hymie Town", that's just a downtrodden black man -- I mean African American -- expressing rightful outrage against Jews.

nope..he would have gotten away with it just like he did on his show.....people really take life too literally.....he made a joke....if you dont like it, turn the station...simple as that...has anyone ever heard of howard stern? he has said and done far worse, however he's still broadcast on sirius radio...so is it right for a black man to make jokes about a white man and we should all laugh, but when white men make jokes about black men...what, they're being racist?? come on people....use your brains before you talk.....that is what its there for!!
