If Obama is elected, it proves that there isn't racism or is severely less racism in American than street bum sharpton says. Thus, his day's of exploiting minor incidents as racially charged travesties will be over, and he will be out of a job. Its called self-preservation.

Sharpton has the "right" to his opinion, and to share it.
I don't agree with his opinion, and I may find his behavior to be shameful, but that doesn't negate his right to do it.
My hope is that Mr. Obama will continue to listen to and try to meet the needs of all the people, not just a select group - and to continue to remain above Sharpton's finger pointing, grand standing, and hate mongering behavior.
Racism does exist is this country, sadly it's definitely still around. Unfortunately, the behavior of folks like Mr. Sharpton does nothing to alleviate racism, it only serves to polarize the differences instead of focusing on the similarities
of all Americans. And we are all Americans - aren't we?
It makes Mr. Sharpton famous and I can't help thinking that being famous and powerful is more his goal than initiating any real social change.

Put yourself in Al's shoes.
To Al Sharpton, there are two Americas.
If a black man has a credible shot at the White House, Al is out of business.
Al has to paint Obama white for his own protection.

Sharpton only knows how to destroy. And destruction is a much easier thing to do. Obama seems like he may truely understand how to build (community, hope,) and that is much more difficult. Sharpton sees that Obama is not trying to stir the pot, but instead trying to get elected to make change happen. Sharpton doesn't understand this. The black community needs more leaders like Obama and less like Sharpton.

I think Al Sharpton needs to do something more than sit around and get people who do not matter fired. Like maybe look into the CPS taking African American children out of homes and running test on them. Does he really think the tuskegee experiments are over? Sharpton does nothing to help African Americans, hopefully soon they will see that.

I think Sarpton fears an African-American becoming President. If the United States voted an African-American into the highest office in the land, wouldn't it prove that we have made major leaps in our race issues and threaten the very bread and butter of people like Sharpton?

He has the right, but I don't think it's justified. How often has he put Condi Rice or Colin Powell in front of the firing range? Friends of mine who are black support Barack, but some are still waiting to weigh-in all of the candidates, which I think is smart, no matter who they end up supporting.
The fact that he was a community organizer for years in the south side of Chicago speaks volumes about what he has already done for the black community.
